It was a rough weekend for the Tigers as they continued their miserable start to the season by getting swept by UNC.

North Carolina 8 Clemson 3

Clemson jumped out to a 2-0 lead when first baseman Caden Grice homered in the first, but couldn’t get much else going. UNC combined for six runs in the second and third innings, and never looked back. Third baseman Clemente Inclan homered in the seventh to put the finishing touches on the Tar Heels’ 8-3 victory.

North Carolina 5 Clemson 4

When the Heels scored five runs in the fourth it looked like the route was once again on. Clemson made a nice comeback in the fifth by working three straight bases loaded walks off UNC pitching, making it 5-4. Unfortunately Clemson couldn’t muster anything else on the day. Offensively it was a rough go for Clemson as the Tigers had just four hits.

North Carolina 5 Clemson 3

Once again Clemson took an early lead when right fielder Dylan Brewer ripped a two run homer in the first. Unfortunately, the Tar Heels responded by plating five runs in the home half of the first. Brewer got his third RBI on the day as he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score centerfielder Bryce Teodosio. Unfortunately the Tigers couldn’t take anymore advantage of the loaded bases, and fell 5-3.

Clemson loses it’s third straight series and falls to 5-8, and 1-5 in the ACC. Clemson looks to get back on track Tuesday, when the Tigers host the Georgia State Panthers. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
