It took a little longer than many NFL Draft experts thought, but Simmons finally found a home in Arizona. The Cardinals selected the senior out of Clemson with the 8th pick in the NFL Draft.

There has been a lot of talk about how versatile Simmons is and where exactly he will play in the NFL. The big thing for Simmons’ NFL career is for there to be a plan. Just rolling out Simmons and expecting him to do defensive stuff isn’t going to end well for anyone.

As we mentioned before Simmons is going to have to work a bit on his tackling and shedding blockers on the blitz. Under Brent Venables Simmons spent a lot of time roaming and taking away passing options for opposing QBs. Some of his best plays came from baiting the opposing QB into a pass that would have been safe under any other secondary, but not against Simmons.

This pick gives Clemson at least one first round pick in 7 of the last 8 NFL Drafts. While we will miss Isaiah at Clemson he as an opportunity to do some amazing things in Arizona.
