ACC Power Rankings: Spooky Edition

#1 Clemson (7-0, 6-0) LW: #1 Next Game: 11/7 @ Notre Dame 7:00 PM NBC.

Uggghh. That was a stressful game. In some ways I’m a bit more at ease about the Notre Dame game because DJ Uiagelelei showed that he has the ability to take over, but, on the other hand, our defense has some issues. I really hope we can at least get Mike Jones and Tyler Davis back. I’d also love James Skalski to be back but I’m not banking on that. Shout out to Bryan Bresee for his game-saving safety. A lot of the young guys really showed out. Also, shout out to Cornell Powell. Dude has been killing it this year.

#2 Notre Dame (6-0, 5-0) LW: #2 Next Game: 11/7 vs Clemson 7:00 PM NBC.

The Irish had a good 31-13 win over Georgia Tech in Atlanta. A solid tune up before the Tigers come to town.

#3 Miami (5-1, 4-1) LW: #4 Next Game: 11/6 @ NC State 7:30 ESPN.

The Canes enjoyed an off week, keeping them safe from the weekend drama. The U heads to Raleigh for a Friday night showdown with the Wolfpack.

#4 North Carolina (4-2, 4-2) LW: #3 Next Games 11/7 @ Duke 12:00 PM ESPN2.

UNC suffered another bad loss, falling to UVA. Mack’s trip to the ACC championship game is looking a lot less likely. The Heels can get back on track against rival Duke on Saturday.

#5 Wake Forest (4-2, 3-2) LW: #6 Next Game: 11/14 @ UNC 12:00 PM.

The Deacs beat Syracuse 38-14. Wake now goes into an off weekend.

#6 Boston College (4-3, 3-3) LW: #5 Next Game: 11/7 @ Syracuse 2:00 PM RSN.

You have to hand it to BC. They put quite the scare into us Saturday early on. However, current BC coach and former Buckeyes defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley has now blown two double digit leads to Clemson. BC now will need to avoid the Clemson hangover in their matchup with Syracuse.

#7 Virginia Tech (4-2, 4-2) LW: #7 Next Game: vs Liberty 12:00 PM ESPN.

The Hokies knocked off Louisville 42-35. Now the plucky little upstart Virginia Tech have to take on ranked Liberty. Yes, the Flames are 6-0 and #25 in the nation, but they still are a two-touchdown underdog to the Hokies.

#8 NC State (4-2, 4-2) LW: #8 Next Game: 11/6 vs Miami 7:30 PM ESPN.

The Pack were off last weekend. NC State has a big one Friday night hosting Miami.

#9 Virginia (2-4, 2-4) LW: #13 Next Game: 11/7 @ Louisville 8:00 PM ACCN.

Well, Wahoowa! UVA upsets North Carolina. Now the Cavs visit Louisville in a Saturday night showdown.

#10 Pitt (3-4, 2-4) LW: #10 Next Game: 11/7 @ FSU 4:00 PM ACCN.

Pitt was off over the weekend, and now we get to enjoy the spectacle that will be Panthers vs Noles. I expect a sloppy game with a hilarious ending. Forget UGA-Florida. This one could be the real afternoon fun.

#11 Louisville (2-5, 1-5) LW: #9 Next Game: 11/7 vs UVA 8:00 PM ACCN.

The Cards’ comeback against VT came up short. Now we’ll see if they can do anything agains a UVA team coming off a big win vs UNC.

#12 Florida State (2-4, 1-4) LW: #12 Next Game: 11/7 vs Pitt 4:00 PM ACCN.

FSU also had an off weekend. The Noles host Pitt on Saturday.

#13 Georgia Tech (2-5, 2-4) LW: #11 Next Game 11/14 vs Pitt 7:00 PM RSN.

I think you have to credit GT a bit here. After back-to-back weeks of looking lifeless in beatdowns to Clemson and Boston College, the Jackets showed some fight, albeit not enough as they fell 31-13 to Notre Dame. Tech also broke out some great uniforms.

Very cool look for Tech. Jackets will have an off weekend before facing Pitt.

#14 Duke (2-5, 1-5) LW: #15 Next Game: 11/7 @ UNC 12:00 PM ESPN2.

Duke won? Duke won! The Devils got win #2 by knocking off Charlotte 53-19. Next, Duke enters their rivalry game with UNC with upset on their minds.

#15 Syracuse (1-6, 1-5) LW: #14 Next Game: 11/7 vs Boston College 2:00 PM RSN.

Cuse looked flat against Wake after their gritty performance against Clemson. We’ll see if they can catch BC suffering from the Clemson hangover this weekend.
