Travis Etienne Announces Decision To Return To Clemson For Senior Season

NCAA Football: College Football Playoff National Championship-Clemson vs Louisiana State Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports

Rumbalaya’s coming back y’all. Clemson junior Travis Etienne stunned everyone by announcing on Twitter that he’s going to return to Clemson for his senior year. The junior from Jennings, LA, was expected to be a one of the top RBs in the draft this year, instead he’ll get a chance to compete for another national title and graduate with his degree.

From Clemson’s perspective it is hard to state just how amazing this is. Etienne is one of the best backs Clemson has ever seen and behind him there isn’t much experience at Clemson. Etienne is also going to get a chance to improve on his pass catching. It is possible that was the one thing the NFL Draft Advisory Board dinged Etienne on and it made him feel that returning to Clemson was the best move.

This is a risk for Etienne. As a running back it is all about getting to the NFL as quickly as possible to start the clock towards a second contract. Luckily Etienne doesn’t have the mileage of many running backs out of college and that probably won’t change after his senior year. Clemson has 7 backs on the roster for 2020 with a lot of young potential to spell him.
