Rising sophomore Kyler McMichael has entered the transfer portal. Reports say McMichael had not been attending any voluntary workouts in recent days. This after missing part of the spring with a hamstring injury.
On the post spring depth chart released a few days ago, McMichael was listed as the backup to AJ Terrell. The Atlanta area native is a former four star recruit and played in 12 games as a freshman, totaling 101 snaps. The 247 Composite had him rated as the eighth best corner nationally and the 53rd best player overall in the 2018 class.
McMichael's departure should now put to bed any lingering questions about how permanent Derion Kendrick's move to corner is. After locking down the top spot on the depth chart after just one spring in the position, it seems as if he's there to stay.
Sheridan Jones, a freshman who impressed during the spring, is one guy that could move up the depth chart. Jones was all over the field making plays in the Spring Game.
Another guy to keep an eye on is Andrew Booth Jr. He wasn't an early enrollee so he didn't take part in spring practice, but he's a guy that could come in and play right away. Booth was a five star recruit and the second best corner nationally in the 247 Composite Rankings.
