Clemson baseball finds itself in the midst of a dismal seven-game losing streak as the Tigers near the final month of the regular season.

After going 15-5 overall in the month of March, Clemson has stumbled out to a 3-9 record during the month of April, which has knocked the Tigers down to right above .500 in ACC play, and for the moment, out of contention for a top-16 regional host in the NCAA tournament. In the midst of the losing streak, Clemson has been swept by Florida State and Duke, and the Tigers lost a 20-inning contest at Georgia, all on the heels of taking two-of-three from top-10 ACC opponent Louisville.

Clemson turns the corner this week to face manageable opponents Winthrop and Tennessee Tech. The Eagles of Winthrop (23-16, 12-6 Big South) enter Tuesday night’s contest winners of five of their last six, while Tennessee Tech (17-20, 5-13 OVC) will come to town Wednesday to wrap up its five-game road trip.

The Tigers need both of these wins in order to get positive momentum heading into the home stretch of the season. Clemson’s next two ACC series’ are on the road against top-15 clubs, so the Tigers’ in-state opponents over the next two weeks are must-win games.

Winthrop will go with freshman RHP Tyler Jones (0-0, 7.45 ERA) on Tuesday while Clemson will send freshman LHP Keyshawn Askew (2-1, 4.04 ERA) to the mound. The starters for Wednesday night’s matchup versus Tennessee Tech will be announced on Wednesday.

Both games will start at 6 p.m. on their respective game days and can be seen on the ACC Network Extra via the WatchESPN app.
