Pitchers (CU vs UNCC): Brooks Crawford vs Ryan Czanstkowski
For the first time since the 2010 ACC Tournament, the Clemson Tigers will find themselves in Charlotte’s BB&T stadium, the usual home to the Triple A Charlotte Knights of the Chicago White Sox organization. While playing in a Minor League stadium is certainly a treat for the Tigers and their fans, it is also a treat for Charlotte as the 49ers play their home games at Robert and Miriam Hayes Stadium on campus.
The Niners are coming off losing a series to CUSA foe Marshall 1-2. This is the second meeting between Clemson and Charlotte this season, as the Tigers defeated the 49ers 7-6 in Clemson on February 18. Charlotte has also lost to two other ACC opponents this year, losing 6-5 to NC State at home and 14-6 to Wake Forest in Winston-Salem.
Brooks Crawford comes in with a 4.86 ERA and a 1-1 record. Looking fully recovered from a back issue, Crawford got his first start since the UofSC series last week against College of Charleston, where he picked up his first win of the season. Crawford also pitched one third of an inning in relief against Boston College over the weekend, where he gave up two hits vs the Eagles.
Ryan Czanstkowski comes in at 1-1 with a 3.21 ERA for the 49er's. Czanstkowski is a junior righty out of Mountain Home, Arkansas.
