Clemson’s next QB1 is officially a Clemson Tiger today. Bellflower, CA resident and #1 QB recruit in the nation DJ Uiagalelei became a Tiger today after signing his Letter of Intent with the Tigers. Uiagalelei will enroll early at Clemson and currently weighs in at 6’4” 246 lbs. The 247 Composite lists DJ as a 5-star recruit with a player rating of .9944.
DJ’s primary recruiter was Brandon Streeter with Jeff Scott providing an assist. A littler parting gift for all of us as Scott heads to South Florida after the season ends. DJ is also a 2 sport star and has an excellent fastball. This guy is an all around athlete with a phenomenal arm and the ability to make plays with his legs.
This recruitment was pretty much all Clemson. Technically there was some competition from Oregon, but that seemed to be more of a nod to a closer program he liked rather than anything else.
QT’s Take
DJ Uiagalelei is an absolute beast. He led Bosco to the High School national championship with a come from behind victory over rival Mater Dei. Played one of the toughest schedules in the entire country and destroyed opposing defenses. DJ is coached by the best and battle tested.
DJ is an elite QB who I think would’ve been the top QB in the 2019 class as well as the 2020 class. He has a cannon of an arm and can throw it 70 yards easily. He has the arm talent to make all the throws in this offense. His delivery is a bit over the top, but he has worked on developing more touch on the ball so that everything isn’t a rocket.
DJ has excellent pocket presence and is tough to bring down. He isn’t a statue and can run and surprise you with his running ability and athleticism.
DJ is a great player, but his family is even better. The Uiagalelei ‘Aiga (family) is a part of the Clemson family!
