Clemson Announces 2019 Football Schedule

NCAA Football: College Football Playoff National Championship-Clemson Celebration Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports

Clemson announced their entire 2019 college football schedule today. The defending champs already had 5 games confirmed after the announcement of the season opener against Georgia Tech, but now the Tigers filled out the schedule with the remaining ACC games.

Highlights for the defending champs include opening at home on Thursday night against Georgia Tech on the brand new ACC Network. For Clemson fans a Thursday night game sucks, especially on a network we don’t know if we will easily be able to get. But being the premier ACC program means you have to be the face of the program sometimes.

Clemson’s first cupcake comes in week 4 after an opening stretch of Georgia Tech, Texas A&M, and traveling to Syracuse. From there the Tigers get their first of 2 byes on the season before hosting Florida State. The Tigers final bye comes the weekend before Thanksgiving and the annual matchup against South Carolina.

This schedule sets up about as well as it can. Georgia Tech on a Thursday is unfortunate, but coming as the season opener it eliminates the problems a team normally faces with a short prep week. And really after Texas A&M and Syracuse there isn’t a tough stretch for Clemson, and unless Florida State is able to put things together there doesn’t appear to be anyone that can really challenge the Tigers. The full schedule is below.
