Last Week Review
It was a mixed bag for Clemson last week. The Tigers offense roared against Furman, putting away 5 goals, 2 coming from Adrian Nunez, who continues to be a bright spot in the Clemson attack.
The attack then went silent against #1 ranked Wake, as the Tigers only managed 3 shots on goal and dropped the match 3-0 to the Demon Deacons. I was expecting the Wake game to go that way, but I was hoping we could figure out a way to put a goal on the board. The game was closer than the final score indicates, but that doesn’t get you very far in the ACC.
Clemson’s attacking woes against quality opposition continues.
Last Week’s Results
Furman 2 - Clemson 5
Wake Forrest 3 - Clemson 0
Current Record: 4-3-1
This Week
There is only one game on the slate this week, but it’s another meat grinder as the Tigers travel to North Carolina to square off against the 3rd ranked Tarheels. Life in the ACC is difficult.
The good news is the Tar Heels don’t have a particularly prolific offense. They’re coming off a 1-0 OT victory over Notre Dame and 1-0 victory over Davidson. The bad news is they don’t give up many goals, and Clemson doesn’t score many goals, which isn’t ideal.
If the Tigers can figure out a way to grind out a goal, they’ll have a legitimate shot at this game. They just haven’t been able to figure that out against top notch opponents this season.

Last Week Review
Last could have gone better with a little luck and better finishing, but I’ll take a split with UVA and UNC.
Clemson’s defense held firm against the Cavaliers, dragging them into the deep waters of overtime before the red hot Mariana Speckmaier dispatched them with a header in the 104th minute. This was a huge win for the Tigers over a previously unbeaten and third ranked UVA squad.
The UNC game was another close contest, but a mistake in the back allowed the Tar Heels to slot in a a goal in the first half. That was all they would need, as Clemson squandered several choice opportunities in the game and just couldn’t find the back of the net. That said, Clemson played to of the top ranked teams in the nation back to back and only conceded 1 goal in total.
You’ve got to give a shout out to Clemson goalkeeper Sandy MacIver. She’s in top form right now and is a major reason the Tigers are in every game until the end.
Last Week’s Results
Virginia 0 - Clemson 1
UNC 1 - Clemson 0
Current Record: 8-4
This Week
There is only one game on the slate for this week, and it’s another tough one.
The 10-0, 11th ranked Boston College Eagles make their way to God’s country and are looking to keep their perfect season intact. The Eagles are led by a prolific offense led by sophomore Sam Coffey. Clemson needs to be at their best to keep the B.C. off the score board, and will need the Speckmaier/Westlake strike force to continue to produce.
This is a tough game, but the Tigers have proven to be a tough out, especially at home. Don’t be surprised if they figure out a way to get a result.

Vollyball
It was a tough week for Volleyball, as the Tigers went 0-2 to open ACC play and neither match was particularly close.
The Tigers return home from treacherous Northeast and will look to right the ship with 2 home matches this week.
