A big inning was once again the key to a Tiger victory. Going into the bottom of the sixth tied 1-1, Clemson exploded for six runs in the inning in route to a 7-1 victory. The inning got started when Drew Wharton led off with a homer to put Clemson up 2-1. Kyle Wilkie and Seth Beer provided some big RBI hits to bump it up to 4-1 before Chris Williams shut the door on the Canes. Williams crushed an opposite field homer to score three runs and give Clemson the 7-1 lead, from which the Tigers never looked back.

The victory means Clemson wins pool B and will head to the semi finals on Saturday. The Tigers will face the winner of Pool C, which will be decided in Friday’s NC State-Florida State matchup. The Tigers have the luxury of avoiding a Friday game and will be able to rest and await their nexf opponent. Clemson’s game on Saturday is scheduled for 5:00 PM EST.
