Things were looking good for Clemson early on as Drew Wharton and Jordan Greene both homered in the second to score a combined three runs, but the joy for the Tigers wouldn’t last for long. In the third, the Dawgs manufactured a pair of runs before LF Michael Curry launched a three run homer to put UGA up 5-3. Georgia tagged on an insurance run in the eighth as they went on to win 6-3 in North Augusta over the Tigers.
Tiger starting pitcher Spencer Strider went 2.1 innings and gave up four runs on three hits to earn his first loss of the season (3-1). Clemson (now 25-8) will host ACC foe Miami this weekend. First pitch Friday will be 6:30 PM. UGA moves to 24-9 on the year and gets ready to host Kentucky this weekend. Clemson and Georgia will face off again next Tuesday when the Tigers head to Athens for the second and final game of the series.
