Clemson fills a huge hole in the class of 2018 today with the announcement that Lee’s Summit, MO, native Mario Goodrich has committed to Clemson. The 4-star recruit picked Clemson over several other schools, including LSU.
Goodrich may come from Missouri, a state not known for blue chip talent, but he’s going to have the ability to come in and contribute immediately. He’s listed as 6’2” 180 pounds by 247 and has a .9492 rating. He’ll likely need to put on a few pounds in a college program, but his height will give him an advantage in competing for early playing time.
Mike Reed is Goodrich’s primary recruiter and it is hard to overstate how important this selection was. With Kyler McMichael the lone DB commit in the class so far Clemson had to get another DB. Goodrich could theoretically play CB or S, but because of numbers he’s probably going to compete for early playing time at CB.
