New week, same story. Clemson played a highly ranked UNC team and couldn’t find a way to score. The Clemson attack was a question coming into the year after losing several high profile pieces from the 2017 team, and the answer isn’t looking good. The Tigers were counting on their touted recruiting class to come in an contribute early, but JuCo transfer Adrian Nunez is the only player new player to do any damage, and his goals have come against lesser opponents.

I can’t find any information on FW/MF Robbie Robinson, but Clemson’s Newcomer of The Year and All-ACC Freshman team member in 2017 has only appeared in one game this year. He provides Clemson with a physical presence in the box that it is sorely lacking.

Anyone know what’s up with Robbie?

This Week

Clemson gets a break from the brutal ACC schedule with a struggling College of Charleston making the trip up to Clemson on Tuesday. The Tigers need to find some confidence in the attack. Grayson Barber finding the back of the net would be a huge plus. He’s young, but has the potential to be a difference maker once he acclimates to the physical nature of college soccer. This is a must win for a variety of reasons.

Clemson travels to Pittsburgh to play their doppelgangers. The Panthers have a decent roster, but have struggled in ACC play. They have a competent defense, but struggle to score goals. They are a tough out at home, and did knock off 12th ranked NC State last week, but this is another must win. The Tigers have to beat the other decent teams in the ACC because the top of the conference is loaded with elite teams.

Clemson lost a golden opportunity to knock of 11th ranked B.C. The Tigers had the lead going into the 70th minute but couldn’t find an answer for B.C. forward Olivia Vaughn, who netted the equalizing and game winning goals in the final 20 minutes of the match. This game may come back to haunt the Tigers later in the year. They had a good team on the ropes at home and let them escape with all the points.

The ACC is too good to lose games you should win (or at least draw).

Clemson hits the road for two ACC games this week. The first stop is Tallahassee where Clemson finds 11th ranked Seminoles riding high after a 4-0 destruction of Notre Dame in South Bend. Clemson should be competitive in this match and desperately need a result.

Sunday finds the Tigers in Pittsburgh to face a reeling Panthers team on a 4 game losing streak. This is a must win for Clemson if they want to hang around in the ACC picture. Pitt isn’t good, and Clemson should have a substantial talent advantage, buy they’ve got to find a way to break through on offense. Scoring 1 or 2 goals a game is playing with fire. The Tigers have dominated play in some games, but haven’t been able to finish. They need to finish early and often against Pitt.

Vollyball

Another tough week for Volleyball, as the Tigers went 0-2 to in ACC play last week. Getting shut out by Notre Dame and then dropping an agonizingly close match to Louisville.

The Tigers travel to Atlanta to face Georgia Tech and then return home to face Virginia Tech. At worst, they need to find a way to get a split.
