After a gutsy win over Vanderbilt late Sunday night, Clemson appeared to run out of steam in a 8-0 loss Monday night. Vandy jumped up early when Will Toffey knocked a third inning two run homer to put the ‘Dores up 2-0. The Tigers looked to cut in on that lead as Jordan Greene appeared to score on a Logan Davidson double in the bottom of the inning, however the home plate umpire ruled that Greene never touch home, and Vandy promptly tagged him out. Replay looks as if Greene’s right foot caught the front of the plate, however in this year’s tournament, there is no reviews in regionals. Oddly enough, there will be reviews next weekend in the Super Regionals and in Omaha. The out ended the inning and Clemson never quite recovered. After starter Alex Eubanks was pulled after a solid four inning outing, the ‘Dores racked up 4 runs in the fifth inning off of the Tigers’ bullpen. Vandy would tack on two more runs in the game, while Clemson could never plate one. Clemson finishes the year at 42-21 overall. Vanderbilt will go on to face Oregon State in the Corvallis Super Regional next weekend.

Toffey was named the MVP of the Clemson Regional. Five Tigers were selected to the Clemson Regional All-Tournament Team. Catcher Kyle Wilkie, Second baseman Jordan Greene, Short stop Logan Davidson, Designated Hitter/Utility Seth Beer, and Pitcher Tyler Jackson all received the honor. Davidson, Beer, and Jackson were unanimous picks.
