According to reports from UConn football followers, Clemson will host the UConn Huskies in 2021. Though the specific document was not provided, FBSchedules is usually pretty good at sniffing out planned games and this document supposedly comes from the UConn Board of Trustees meeting. Clemson has not made any announcement about the game.
This report also claims that Clemson will pay UConn $1.2 million to travel down for the game. The price seems to be on the higher side, but UConn coming to Clemson is a little different than SC State or even Troy. Though the Huskies are not in a P5 conference anymore, they could provide a bit more of a challenge than the normal tripe Clemson fans have to deal with early in the season.
This would be the first time that these teams have played in football. UConn would travel to Clemson for a game on September 11th, 2021. This would give Clemson 3 out of conference games for the 2021 season. The Tigers were already scheduled to host Wyoming on September 25th as well as traveling to South Carolina on November 25th. Barring any changes to the ACC schedule, Clemson still has one more spot to fill on their schedule. Ideally this would be a quality opponent similar to what we’ve seen in recent years such as Georgia, Auburn, or the upcoming Texas A&M series. But we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
