Clemson DT Carlos Watkins drafted by the Houston Texans in the fourth round

The standout defensive tackle went No. 142

Clemson Tigers DT Carlos Watkins will be heading to the NFL, as the dominant defensive lineman was drafted by the Houston Texans on Saturday with the 142nd pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Watkins brings an excellent football awareness to the NFL as well as some great athleticism. He moves around the line well and with an excellent DL coach he should be able to execute a repertoire of moves against opposing OL. He already has a leg up thanks to coaching from Marion Hobby and Dan Brooks at Clemson. The Clemson DL uses a lot of different stunts and other techniques to get to the QB.

A lot of fans have compared Watkins to current Atlanta Falcons DT Grady Jarrett, but Watkins has much better physical measureables than Grady does. If Watkins is able to put everything together in terms of effort and ability he may end up being even better than Jarrett.
