Clemson WR Mike Williams has been selected in the first round of the NFL Draft, as the Los Angeles Chargers selected Williams in the first round with the seventh pick of the 2017 NFL Draft.
Williams will bring the physical stature of someone that can be a number one receiver in the NFL. His ability to get to balls in the air makes him an excellent downfield target as well as the perfect guy for the fade route in the back of the end zone. He also showed a great ability at making catches on balls that weren’t always put in the best position.
The one area where Williams will have to improve in the NFL is going over the middle and in his route running. At Clemson the offense never really required Williams to go over the middle so there is a bit of an unknown there in terms of ability. His route running can also use some polish, a lot of the time even if Williams didn’t run the best route his physical ability allowed him to get separation or move to make a catch.
