Clemson has once again stunned Ohio State by pulling a talented recruit out of the state of Ohio. 5-star OL Jackson Carman pulled a surprising switch and signed a letter of intent with Clemson today. Originally everyone was expecting him to either go with Ohio State or Southern Cal, but Carman has decided to become a cornerstone on Clemson’s OL.
The Fairfield, OH, native is 6’6” and weighs 330 lbs. He’s earned a .9945 rating from 247 and he had offers from all over before narrowing on Ohio State and USC. He is the top ranked tackle in the class of 2018 as well. Though we don’t have a primary recruiter this one can likely be chalked up to Dabo and the impressive family atmosphere which helped sway his mom.
Clemson is getting an excellent OL prospect here. His commitment also gives Clemson 2 OL with Cade Mays decision still unknown. Carman should begin to contribute as soon as he arrives on campus, especially with Taylor Hearn declaring for the draft and Mitch Hyatt likely to join him in the professional ranks. There will be plenty of playing time if Carman is as good as advertised.
Jack the Jiant!
What an early signing day? No. Urban Meyer—-hey, hey...31-0...
Clemson needed a LT to take over for the possibility of Hyatt leaving for the NFL draft. With Hearn declaring Clemson’s top need in this class was a 5* franchise LT. Carman is a 5* franchise LT.
Carman is a big, bad man. He is one of the most violent LT’s in the nation. He has an excellent, elite punch. He moves his feet well. He is a giant. We did it!!!!!
I heard that this was happening last night. I was typing these things all night...I’m so happy...I’m so happy...
