Clemson returns to Death Valley this Saturday with a Noon kickoff against the 4-1 Wake Forest Demon Deacons in what many are calling a trap game. Special thanks to Cameron Debro at Blogger So Dear who took the time to preview the contest and answer some questions about what Tiger fans can look for during Saturdays matchup.
Quarterback John Wolford is currently leading the team in both Passing and Rushing and accounted for all but 33 yards of the teams offense last week against Florida State. Who is the Demon Deacon's #2 threat that Clemson fans should keep their eyes on?
It has to be his favorite target RS Freshman Greg Dortch. Dortch is finally starting to get national attention as he's been lighting up the field through 5 games. Last game he was finally stopped for the first time from getting in the end zone but still put up 10 catches for 110 yards. He is the number one playmaker on this offense right now
Despite some early non-conference competition, the Wake Forest defense is currently tied for 12th nationally in points allowed on the season, giving up only 14.4 per game. What are the Wake Forest keys to success to keeping Clemson out of the end zone?
It's hard to pinpoint one specific thing, but I have to say it's getting to the QB. Duke Ejiofor is one of the best in the business and the rest of the line is right there with him. If Wake can continue to keep getting to the QB, it proves for a very long day and takes pressure off the DB's against a team that I feel as if has some of the best Wide Receivers in the country.
Wake Forest picked up their first loss of the season last week despite outplaying Florida State for 58 minutes. How do you expect the team to respond to the adversity?
It was a gut wrenching loss. I'm still kind of hurting from it but I hope the guys aren't. I hope we come out not playing conservative but not just throwing any game plan out of the way. If we do what we’re supposed to do I honestly think we can hang with any team in the country.
Finally, what is your prediction at noon in Death Valley on Saturday?
I’v got to go with Clemson 35-24. Playing in that stadium is absolutely brutal but I do think Wake holds their own for a while, but just cant get the points to keep up
