As part of our post game coverage this season we are going to add a players of the game award. We’ll highlight some of the top performers and plays of the game. At the bottom of the article we’ll ask everyone to vote for your player of the game. Each week the player of the game will have a unique graphic created on social media to honor their accomplishments.
Offense: Mike Williams, WR, RS Junior
Williams put on a remarkable show in his comeback from last season’s neck injury. Williams hauled in 9 catches for a career high 174 yards. Despite not scoring a touchdown, he had several big catches for the Tigers to help set up scoring drives. Williams looks to have recovered from his injury and is playing better than ever. The one low point for Mike was a first half fumble after a terrific catch.
Defense: Dexter Lawrence, DT, Freshman
So many players could get this award after a great defensive performance from Brent Venebles’s squad, but Lawrence really stood out. Dexter contributed 7 tackles, including 5 solo and 1 for a loss during a dominating performance. The 6’5", 350 pound freshman looks to continue Clemson’s tradition of talented Defensive Linemen, and on Saturday he put together an outstanding performance.
Special Teams: Andy Teasdall, P, Graduate
Teasdall had a solid performance on a game that had a few special teams miscues. Teasdall had 4 punts for 166 yards with one touchback. Plus there really wasn’t anyone else that distinguished themselves on Saturday.
