No dancing for Dabo following Clemson’s nail-biting 19-13 victory over Auburn this past weekend. While the offense didn’t play great, the Tigers defense was a pleasant surprise. The talk for most of the off-season was about Clemson’s star studded offense and how they were going to rip Auburn’s defense apart. Tigers fans wondered if Clemson had the depth on defense to repeat last year’s success.
The answer was a resounding yes.
Gus Malzahn is revered for his ability to manufacture yards on the ground, however, Clemson’s defense was able to hold Auburn to just 87 rushing yards on 41 attempts.

Mike Williams is back!
Mike Williams was a stud in his first game back from a serious neck injury. Williams had 9 catches for a career high 174 yards.

Normal is not a word anyone would use to describe freshman Dexter Lawrence. Lawrence’s performance in his college football debut was far from normal. The gargantuan freshman recorded 7 tackles, 1 sack, and a pass break up.

Playoff Picture
Louisville thumped Charlotte 70-14. Lamar Jackson scored 8 touchdowns (no that is not a typo) in the Cardinals win over the 49ers.

North Carolina lost a tight one versus the Georgia Bulldogs, 33-24. It is still early in the season so the Tar Heels have time to make up for this loss, however, they would essentially have to run the table for the remainder of the season as it is unlikely that a two loss ACC team makes it into the playoff.

Florida State faces off with Ole Miss tonight at 8:00 pm on ESPN. This early season match up could have a huge impact on the playoff picture down the road.
