The Tigers come into the mid-week game on a 7 game winning streak after sweeping Boston College over the weekend to improve their record to 16-3 (5-1 ACC). The Tigers moved up to #17 in the USA today poll after the weekend. Seth Beer continues to be the talk of the town after hitting a walk off home run in the 10th inning on Sunday to clinch the sweep for the Tigers. He leads the nations with a .969 slugging percent and was named ACC co-player of the week after leading the Tigers to a 5-0 record last week. Presbyterian comes to Doug Kingsmore Stadium with an 11-8 record after dropping 2 out of 3 to the Citadel over the weekend. The Tigers look to continue their momentum as the Blue Hoses come to town.
The Clemson offense has continued to produce averaging 7.1 runs per game with a team average of .286. Clemson has found their go to bat in Seth Beer who is batting an impressive .453, has an ACC leading 9 HR's, and team leading 25 RBI's through 19 games. If you haven't made it out to Doug Kingsmore Stadium to see this kid play, you're missing out. Weston Wilson continues to be a huge contributor with a .370 average and 16 RBI's. Chase Pinder leads the team with 21 runs scored out of the lead off spot. Chris Okey has added 21 RBI's of his own and has brought his average back up to the .300 mark.
The starting pitching returned back to form this past weekend as Clate Schmidt (4-0) and Charlie Barnes (2-2) both earned wins after strong outings. Alex Eubanks also had a quality start tossing 6.2 innings with 10 strikeouts, while only giving up 2 earned runs. The bullpen has continued to be impressive led by Pat Krall (0.86 ERA) and Alex Bostic (0.75 ERA). Jake Higginbotham looks to have solidified himself as a week day starter with 2-0 record and 3.57 ERA. As a staff, the Tigers have an ERA of 2.65 and only allowing opposing team to bat .216.
Presbyterian is hitting .301 as a team, led by Weston Jackson who is batting .431 with 5 homeruns and 22 RBI's on the season. A couple other notable hitters are Tyler Weyenberg and Peter Johnson both batting over .350 on the season. The Blue Hoses have a team ERA of 4.54.
