Clemson is officially in the College Football Playoffs for the second season in a row. The Tigers will play Ohio Sate in the Playstation Fiesta Bowl on New Year’s Eve this year.
For Clemson it is an attempt at redemption. The Tiger’s loss to Alabama in last season’s national championship game has not been forgotten and this could even be a better opportunity for Clemson to win the team’s first national championship since 1981.
Ohio State is coming off an excellent 11-1 season where only a surprise loss to Penn State kept them out of the B1G Championship game. Led by J.T. Barrett, Ohio State will prove to be a stern test for Clemson with the most talented team the Tigers will have faced all year.
For Clemson the key is going to be keeping Barrett contained. Ohio State has not seemed interested in throwing deep this year, and when they have Barrett has struggled. That could be a boon to Clemson’s inconsistent secondary and should make it easier for Clemson to keep Barrett in the pocket.
Kickoff has not been announced, but it will be at either 3pm EST or 7pm EST, a perfect way to start your New Year’s Eve celebrations.
