Clemson Stomps South Carolina: 2nd Quarter Film Review

There is nothing sweeter than putting your rival in their place.

NCAA Football: South Carolina at Clemson Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports

Santa came early this year, we saw: Mike Williams carry a grown man 8-yards for a touchdown, Wayne Gallman run in, over, around, and through the South Carolina defense, Deshaun throw 6 touchdown passes (in 3 quarters), and to top it all off Will Muschamp’s look of hopelessness that doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon.

Clemson rolled over South Carolina on Saturday, giving us all that warm feeling inside knowing how great it truly is to be the better team between you and your rival. South Carolina’s attempt at offense was similar to playing Madden but your team has all the “skill points” up to 99.

Think about it; during the second quarter Deon Cain dropped a touchdown pass. Not a “the ball was knocked loose” touchdown pass; but a gift from the Lord, ball right in the bread basket touchdown pass: AND DESHAUN WAS LAUGHING. When have you ever seen a quarterback laugh off the fact that a receiver dropped a 3rd down touchdown pass? And against a rival? Needless to say, this game felt like perfect “final run” for some of the best players in Clemson’s football history.

Cain flat out dropped the pass. It was one of those “too good to be true” passes where Cain was so wide open it wasn’t funny. This kind of stuff is okay against South Carolina, but in a major game like the ACC Championship or the Playoffs…it is as bad as a turnover.
