A feverish late game rally was not enough to overcome a turnover laden first half as Clemson fell to Oklahoma Sunday. The Sooners took advantage of early Tiger turnovers and went to halftime leading 35-23 in Orlando, Fl. Oklahoma would build on more to their lead before a Jaron Blossomgame 3-pointer would finally spark the Tigers offense.
After a furious rally, Clemson pulled within 5 points of the Sooners, but struggled to get the ball in the basket in the last 30 seconds, resulting in the loss. Blossomgame led the Tigers with 19 points on the day. Marcquise Reed provided a nice 10 point boost off the bench, including some big 3-pointers. As a team, Clemson lost the turnover battle, committing 17 to Oklahoma’s 13.
The Tigers will drop to 2-2 overall as the team will return to action Friday night in Littlejohn to host High Point. The Panthers of High Point come in with a 3-2 record. It will be their second visit to an ACC opponent this year, as High Point dropped 99-73 game to Virginia Tech in Blacksburg earlier this season. Friday’s game tips off at 7:00 PM, and can be watched on “ACC Network Extra.”
