Marking what could be a budding QB rivalry, the first installment of Deshaun Watson vs. Lamar Jackson was one for the ages. Time will tell if we'll see a rematch before they play on Sundays.
Once more, the Clemson Tigers offense flashed the brilliance so many expected coming into the season. And though Saturday's performance against the Louisville Cardinals offered ample mistakes for fans to bemoan, it's foolhardy to expect perfection in as meaningful a game against as strong an opponent. Instead, let's appreciate the greatness of Deshaun Watson — how many QBs make this pass (after a frustrating half and disappointing breakdown on the previous snap)?
And as for Clemson's defense failing to impress Lamar Jackson? The math on their performance begs to differ:
- Total QB Sacks: Clemson DEF 5, UL's previous opponents 3
- Total Tackles for Loss: Clemson DEF 10, UL's previous opponents 17
- Average yards-per-play: Clemson DEF 5.7, UL's previous opponents 8.22
- Average points-per-Game: Clemson DEF 36, UL's previous opponents 63
Most importantly, Clemson took 0 Ls to Louisville's 1.
We broke down the action in this game, and the wild weekend that was around CFB. Enjoy the show!

What's a Pawcast? It's a semi-regular podcast, hosted by three CU alumni — Ben, Cody, and Nick — who analyze current Clemson Tigers events from a fan's perspective, and try to predict the future around athletics. Because we're far from experts, we farm out that part of the show. Past and future guests include Shakin' the Southland writers, SB Nation CFB media personalities, former Clemson players & coaches, and a mixed bag of opponent school podcasters, fans, and radio guys.
