Clemson football seemed to get back to its 2015 form last Friday in a 56-10 destruction of Boston College. Watson threw for four touchdowns and laid down a key block on Gallman’s 59 yarder. The most impressive part of the night was the explosiveness of the offense. After not posting a single play of 50+ yards through five games, Clemson’s offense went for three in the first quarter against BC. Williams and Leggett moved the ball through the air and Gallman on the ground. People too notice of Watson’s performance as ESPN moved Watson up their Heisman rankings to the number two spot. The Tigers take on NC State on Saturday.
Tigers in the NFL
Former Tigers in the NFL had big games last weekend too. The Atlanta Falcons duo, Vic Beasley and Grady Jarrett, put on a show against the Denver Broncos picking up 4.5 sacks between the two of them. Beasley was unstoppable picking up seven tackles and forcing two fumbles.
DeAndre Hopkins of the Houston Texans picked up another touchdown this week as did Dwayne Allen of the Indianapolis Colts. Chandler Catanzaro was perfect for the Arizona Cardinals with a FG and 4 extra points.
Soccer
Both the Men’s and Women’s soccer teams suffered losses this past weekend. The men fell to #14 Charlotte 1-0 and fall to 8-2-2 on the year. The women lost to Notre Dame last Thursday but rebounded Sunday with a 1-0 win at Louisville. Jenna Weston scored her fourth goal of the year to give the Tigers the win. The women are now 9-3-2 on the year with three home ACC games coming up. They play Miami Friday night at 7-0.
Cross Country
Grace Barnett continues her strong start to the season with her second straight top 10 finish, this time at the Joe Piane Invitational at Notre Dame. She set at personal best in the 5K running a 16:31. The women’s team placed 21st and the men placed sixth in the meet. The next race is Saturday at Pre-Nationals in Indiana.
Diving
The women’s diving team starts their season hosting an exhibition tomorrow night. 10 out of 13 divers are returning, giving the team lots of experience. The first official meet of the season is October 21st at UNCW.
Basketball
The new Littlejohn Coliseum will get its first chance to show itself off Saturday as it will be open from 8 am until 2 hours after the football game. Official games will start November 11th for both the Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams.
