Behind the 17 point performance of Jaron Blossomgame, Clemson picked up a huge win over the #9 Blue Devils in front of a mixed crowd of Tigers and Devils in Greenville. Duke jumped out to an early lead, but Clemson was able to fight hard to close the gap. Duke took a 35-33 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Jaron Blossomgame drained a 3 to give Clemson a 53-50 lead with about 7:00 left in the second half, and the Tigers never looked back. Blossomgame also delivered the final blow to Duke with a big two-handed jam with thirteen seconds remaining. This gave Clemson the 66-63 lead. Duke air balled the potential game tying three. Avry Homes was fouled hard after the rebound, and was sent to the line, where he drained two free throws to give Clemson the 68-63 lead with a little over a second left, making it a two possession game and icing the win.
This is Clemson's first win over a top 10 team since 2009, when the Tigers beat a #4 ranked Duke squad in Littlejohn Coliseum. Clemson goes to 11-6 overall and 4-1 in the ACC. The Tigers will go on to face the #8 Miami Hurricanes Saturday at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena at 2:00.
