Jay Guillermo Returns To Clemson

Jay Guillermo is set to return to the team this summer after an absence for an undisclosed medical issue.

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Jay Guillermo, Clemson's best option at center, recently tweeted that he is going to be coming back to the team in time for the second part of summer workouts.

Guillermo's medical issues were never disclosed, but they forced him to withdraw from school about halfway through the semester. Because he had to withdraw from the university as well as his medical issues being undisclosed, many have speculated that this did not have to do with a physical injury.

The best part about this whole thing is that Jay Guillermo is getting his life back on track and is going to be able to attend classes again. Football is completely secondary to that.

Football wise, this is fantastic news for Clemson. Guillermo is the team's best option at center. Having him back will allow Ryan Norton to slide over to one of the guard positions, and will give Clemson some much needed depth on the offensive line. Assuming Mitch Hyatt and other freshmen OL are able to contribute, the line may not be as terrible as previous seasons. Progress!. The offensive line is going to be one of the keys to Clemson's overall success on offense this season, especially given the apparent fragility of QB Deshaun Watson.

Hopefully Guillermo will be able to get back into playing shape quickly and all of his medical issues are in the past.
