We've waited almost 4 weeks, but now the game is here. Clemson has an opportunity to head to the national title game with a win this afternoon. Their opponent, an Oklahoma team intent on revenge for a 40-6 whipping we put on them last year.
Clemson has the talent advantage in this one, but Oklahoma has been favored by an overwhelming majority of the pundits and experts. Late suspensions and injuries to key contributors have hurt both teams, but this one should still be close.
For Clemson, it is all about mistakes. The last 4-5 games of the season saw the Tigers commit an uncharacteristic number of mistakes. These mistakes kept games close while Oklahoma was hitting their stride and dominating teams. We all assume the rest will have helped a tired Clemson defense, and if it has Clemson should win this one.
But Oklahoma has a good shot at winning too. They have talent on both sides of the ball and our lack of depth on defense could be a real concern, especially at LB. Boulware and Goodson have to play like they did against ND and FSU, not like they did against Syracuse.
