Clemson notched its ninth win of the season against a rebuilding but potent Florida State team.
Coming in, the table was set for a letdown performance. Las Vegas (12 point favorites), Bristol (consensus ESPN pick), and the CFP committee bunker (#1 ranking) were squarely behind Clemson, despite the Seminoles playing for a 4th consecutive series win, and fielding a star-laden roster with serious big-game experience.
And for an hour or two, it looked as though it might come to pass. Dalvin Cook scored in the first minute, Deshaun Watson was overthrowing receivers and making mental mistakes in the red zone, and the 114 points scored in the previous 2 games felt like a distant memory.
But this team was not to be denied, and came back from an early, mistake-fueled deficit to ice away the ACC Atlantic and continue a storybook season.
Though Jimbo Fisher's team was a far cry from the dominant squad that invaded Memorial Stadium in 2013, this was a marquee win against a football powerhouse. Add this to the growing list of elite programs Clemson's taken down of late.
In this weekend's episode, we break down the action, and discuss key points of the game, focus areas for further improvement, and another round of beer chatter.
