Clemson used a 21-0 run to build a 35-9 lead in the first half and cruised to a season-opening win over NC Central on Friday night.

Jaron Blossomgame led the way for the Tigers with 18 points, while Donte Grantham and Avry Holmes chipped in 11 apiece.

After taking a 38-16 lead into halftime, Clemson opened the second half with a 21-8 run that quickly dashed any hopes NC Central had of comeback.

Landry Nnoko struggled offensively but led the Tigers with nine rebounds and six blocks. Sidy Djitte was a perfect 3 for 3 each from the field and the free throw line to add nine points off the bench.

Clemson shot a stellar 20 of 23 from the free-throw line and assisted on 16 of its 23 made baskets. Grantham and Jordan Roper had four assists apiece.

Brad Brownell used the big lead as an opportunity to rest his starters, as the Tigers have a quick turnaround with a 2 p.m. game against Texas-San Antonio on Sunday. Every scholarship player played at least 14 minutes and scored.
