Clemson vs. North Carolina Central: Preview and Gamethread

Clemson opens its 2015-16 Basketball season this evening as they welcome the North Carolina Central Eagles to Greenville, SC tonight.

Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

The Clemson Tigers open the 2015-16 regular season in Greenville where they will play their 17 game home schedule during the renovations to Littlejohn Coliseum. All eyes will be on the offenses of both teams this evening as North Carolina Central will be attempting to replace all 4 of its top scorers from a season ago. On the other side of the ball, Clemson will be looking to replace Rod Hall, who effectively ran the point for Clemson the past 4 years.

Something to keep an eye on for the Tigers this evening is the front court play. Sidy Djitte is hoping to play after undergoing a procedure on his knee earlier in the off-season. If Djitte is forced to the bench, Landry Nnoko will have to play less aggressive to avoid foul trouble. On the offensive side of the ball for the Tigers, Clemson will look to Jaron Blossomgame to become a consistent scoring threat. As Clemson's only consistent scorer last season, we see his improvement continuing this upcoming season.

In an interview earlier this week with Ryan Kantor, Blossomgame noted that he more comfortable distributing the ball, Djitte has become more adept offensively, and Josh Smith has extended his shooting range. We'll be watching to see if those improvements are evident in game one.

KenPom gives Clemson an 89% chance of coming away with a victory tonight despide NC Central's 25-8 record last season (admittedly, early season KenPom numbers can be a bit sporadic). Sound off in the comments below as to what you are looking for from the Tigers this evening and hang out with us here throughout the game.
