The preseason USA Today Coaches Poll was released today and Clemson is ranked 16th. They are one of three ACC teams ranked in the poll. FSU remains at the top of the poll while UNC will start the season ranked 23rd, an amazing assumption, even by Coaches Poll standards.
The top 10 features your normal blue bloods as well as a few surprises. UCLA somehow makes an appearance in the 7th spot and Alabama might be ranked a bit too high given their losses on offense and defense. But being 'Bama affords you certain privileges in college football, high rankings in the polls and a lack of holding calls against your team.
South Carolina debuts at number 9 and it appears they are getting a little SEC bias. Their losses from last year seem to be similar to Clemson, and I would have expected them to be in the 12-13 range going into the season. Georgia will start the season ranked 12th and would it would be a nice for Clemson to start the season off with another upset.
Another loltastic moment from the poll is ranking Ole Miss and USC. Apparently hiring a constant 7-5 coach means your former powerhouse is on the way to being BACK. As for Ole Miss, paying the players to get on campus is not enough. You actually have to coach them up and all that boring stuff. I'll believe it when I see it.
UNC, Texas, and Washington round out the Top 25. I really can't add much to that statement because I'm too busy laughing. Feel free to leave your thoughts in my stead.
Oh and Florida received votes. I have no words.
