Daniel Gossett, from Byrnes HS, was picked in the 2nd round of the MLB Draft late last night by the Oakland A's, with the 65th pick. Its pretty certain that he'll leave. He was a 16th Rd pick by the BoSox out of HS.
Goose was a finalist for the Golden Spikes Award, the collegiate baseball equivalent of the Heisman, and finished as a 1st Team All-ACC starting pitcher. His stat line for the year ended up with a 7-2 record, 1.93 ERA in 107.1 IP with 107 Ks, the most since Kris Benson in 1996.
He'll leave Clemson with 282 IP, 285 Ks (7th all time), and a 23-9 final record, with a fantastic 2.80 ERA.
