Well, last week, I went 2-4, but I'm still smiling. Why, you ask? Because the Chickens found a way to blow a 2 touchdown against Tennessee at home with around 2 minutes left. I'm sorry, but if that isn't funny, then I don't know what is. Thank goodness we get the Tigers back this weekend, along with some other great games.
Thursday 11/6
Clemson (-22.5 o/u 43) @ Wake Forest 7:30 (ESPN)
We head back up to Winston-Salem for another Thursday night showdown with the Demon Deacons. Last time we were there, Tajh Boyd went off and destroyed the Deacs in front of a national audience on a Thursday night. This year, the question is on whether or not we see Deshaun Watson play for the first time since the Louisville game. He has been upgraded from "out" to "doubtful". My guess is that he dresses out and warms up. I think he may be reserved for an emergency situation, if for what ever reason it looks like Stoudt can't get the win. If we're blowing them out (which we should do), he may get a few snaps at some point to get him back in. If we were playing South Carolina this week, Deshaun would be playing, there is no doubt in my mind. We shouldn't need him for this game, because this IS your grandfather's Wake team. They started the year off by losing to UL-Monroe, and only have to wins overall this year. Syracuse beat them at home 30-7. We should be fine this weekend, especially having a week off before a Thursday night game. The Goldin Guarantee: Clemson 38 Wake Forest 0
Saturday 11/8
Georgia (-13 o/u 58.5) @ Kentucky 12:00 (ESPN)
After getting embarrassed at the Cocktail Party, UGA tries to get back on track up in Bluegrass country. After some early season hype, UK has dropped 3 in a row and the folks in Lexington are probably more excited about their basketball game on Sunday with Georgetown (not that Georgetown, this one is a college in Kentucky). The Dawgs will be without Todd Gurley for one more week, but they shouldn't need him. This is a good game for UGA to regain its footing in the SEC East hunt. The Goldin Guarantee: UGA 42 UK 19
Duke (-3.5 o/u 51) @ Syracuse 12:30 (ACC Network/ESPN3.com)
Sweet, Duke and 'Cuse playing this early in the college basketball season. That's awesome! Coach K vs Jim Boeheim in the Carrier Dome. I'm shocked Duke is the favo... wait a minute. This is a football game. Well, I've lost interest. Duke is 7-1 and leads the Coastal. 'Cuse gave us a scare, but is nowhere near playing for the ACC Championship. Yet, here they are, only a 3 and a half point dog at home. If they can convince Orange fans that this is a basketball game, then the Carrier Dome might be as loud as Bobby Petrino says it is. With only one bad loss to Miami, Duke is a pretty good team, while Syracuse only has one conference win. The Goldin Guarantee: Duke 24 'Cuse 10
Texas A&M @ Auburn (-21o/u 67.5) 3:30 (CBS)
Week 2 of the Kyle Allen era takes the Aggies to the Plains where Auburn awaits. Auburn is coming off of a hard-fought victory over West foe Ole Miss, and will be looking to strengthen their case to remain in the top 4 of the Playoff rankings. A&M has struggled since the opening night beat down of South Carolina, and does not look to pose much upset threat. Should be a big day for Nick Marshall and Co. The Goldin Guarantee:Auburn 45 A&M 9
Louisville (-3 o/u 46) @ Boston College 7:15 (ESPN2)
The Cards head north to play a stout Eagle squad in this ACC battle of the Birds. Louisville is coming off of a devastating loss to Florida State, where the Cards saw FSU make a 21-0 run to regain the lead and then go on to win. BC got a nice win over VT, which seems like something everyone but Ohio State is doing these days. Chesnut Hill can be a tricky place to play, as the Cardinals will find out. The Goldin Guarantee: BC 17 Louisville 14
Alabama (-6 o/u 45.5) @ LSU 8:00 (CBS)
The good old battle in the West renews itself for another year in Baton Rouge. The Tide have been rolling since losing to Ole Miss a few weeks back, and LSU handed the Rebels their first loss of the year in week 9. Tiger Stadium will be rocking for this game, no doubt about it. As much as the Bayou Bengals would love to hand Saban a loss and muddy the SEC West waters, I don't see Bama dropping this one. The Goldin Guarantee: Alabama 21 LSU 16
