Weekly Clemson News and Recruiting Links

A weekly roundup of news around Clemson sports

Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports

It's finally Rivalry Week! Very much looking forward to being at the Valley on Saturday and hopefully seeing us pull out a victory against the Chickens. I have to admit I'm a little nervous as we aren't sure yet who will be starting at quarterback for us on Saturday. My expectations and prediction for the game will be totally different between a scenario where Stoudt starts and a scenario where Deshaun starts. I'm praying that Deshaun is good to go this weekend but I don't want to risk him getting injured further and possibly ruining his future at Clemson. Its quite obvious that Stoudt isn't totally healthy either especially after the hit he took at the end of his day against Georgia State. If Stoudt starts we need to put a bigger emphasis on the running game and with Tyshon Dye's coming out party last Saturday I see a lot of potential with him and Wayne Gallman as a solid 1-2 combo for next year and possibly beyond.

Now here are this week's news and links.....

Tyshon Dye ready to roll

As I mentioned above I was glad to see Tyshon Dye get some substantial playing time. I'm on the Tyshon Dye bandwagon. To me he looks like the best natural running back on the roster even though Saturday was first dose of real playing time against a week Georgia State team. He needs to get in more shape but I think he has a chance to be our lead back next season. I think he and Gallman will form to be a very solid and reliable 1-2 combo at the running back position to take pressure off of Deshaun Watson. I think Gallman can also get the workload I expect Dye to get next season but Dye to me looks like a better overall runner. Gallman needs to stop carrying the ball so high when he runs or he will have a fumbling problem sooner rather than later if he wants to be the lead back over Dye.

Clemson old-timers get antsy when Florida starts searching - Orange and White Story

Another Dabo to Florida rumor related article....This was before I was born but it makes sense for long time Clemson fans to get nervous over Dabo leaving for Florida after Charley Pell left Clemson for Florida in the late 1970's.

#SceneAndHeard: Five biggest recruiting upsets in 2015 class - NCF On The Trail Blog - ESPN

4 and 5 happened to belong to the Tigers.....Says a lot about the recent recruiting success for Dabo and Co. in Florida that two of the top five recruiting upsets happened to be Clemson recruits from the Sunshine State.

Stakes even higher in ACC-SEC rivalry weekend - ACC Blog - ESPN

Interesting article by ESPN talking about the rivalry games coming up this weekend for ACC teams with the SEC....I expect Georgia Tech-Georgia to be a close, competitive game while overall I expect our game against the Coots to be pretty close. Louisville should beat Kentucky by plenty while FSU will probably fall behind Florida at some point but figure out a way to win at the end like they always have this season.
