Trevion Thompson, a WR from Hillside HS in Durham NC, committed to Clemson on his official visit and announced it publicly this afternoon. Thompson (6'3, 184) is rated the #8 player in NC by Rivals, #26 WR nationally and the #206 player overall nationally. I'd say its legit based on his film that I see. The prime competition for him of late has been NC State, but he has taken official visits to Ohio State, and West Virginia. He claims offers from Auburn, Alabama, Notre Dame, SC, and Florida among others.
Thompson seems like he'll end up as a possession receiver and play the 9 spot in Clemson's offense. This is the position that Nuk Hopkins and Bryant have played on the boundary side. I could see him contributing at the 5 spot due to his size if someone better ends up at 9, as he'll bulk up to 200-210 in college. He doesn't have superior speed but it is good. He does have great hands on tape, appears to run good routes, and good hip quickness to come out of his breaks.
Thompson's official recruiter is Robbie Caldwell, with some assistance from Elliott and Scott. There are spots open to take a DE and an OT, though I do not expect to fill the OT spot. As usual Clemson will put all the eggs in one basket and hope to fill the lines up in 2015.
