WR Demarre Kitt Commits to Clemson

Demarre Kitt (6'1, 195, 4.5 40), the best WR in Georgia, officially committed to Clemson this morning. He plays for Sandy Creek HS in Tyrone GA. He is rated the #5 player in GA, #8 WR nationally, and #68 in the Rivals100. His main suitor was Ohio State, but he had offers from nearly everyone in the southeast.

Kitt has been previously committed to UGA until last October, and is rumored to be good friends with Watson, so one is tied to the other in my mind. I do think this commitment will be difficult to hold onto and be confident, because he likes the media attention. Rodney Garner was also his recruiter at UGA, and though he isn't the recruiter of record for Auburn, we know how he works. Kitt says he's done visiting however.

Kitt has great hands with good speed, and is not at all afraid of making plays on crossing routes over the middle in traffic. His upper body is very well developed for a WR, but may be a bit slow in the hips. I like that I see him going up and getting the football, similar to the way Nuk or Gardner used to do (nobody does it like Sammy so I'm not making that comparison). He runs his routes well and makes fairly good cuts in the field, and gets off the snap well. All in all a polished WR prospect who fills a need for elite talent replacement at the position. I think we end up seeing him play Sammy Watkins' (now previous) spot at the 2, or possibly the 5. He's not a 9 in this offense, not yet.

Kitt is an early enrollee. He was recruited by Jeff Scott.
