WR Kyrin Priester (6'1, 185, 4.6 40) from Brookwood HS in Snellville GA, flipped his commitment from NC State to Clemson after the official visit this weekend. He flipped in part because his recruiter was DB Coach Mike Reed. Priester has offers from Ohio State, NC State, SC, UGA, TCU, and Vandy. He had been previously committed to UGA in the early stages of the process.
After looking over his film, I'd call Priester a Humphries clone in some ways, but with a little more speed like Hopkins. What stands out is that he's a football player, not an athlete playing football. He played defense, and is not scared to block someone as many WRs are (looking at you Martavis Bryant). He's not super-fast, and probably not any faster than Nuk is right now, so he's not the type to really stretch a defense. He's more along the lines of a shorter slot/possession receiver who knows how to get open because he runs crisp routes. In short, he could become either another Adam Humphries or a mid-round pick if he works hard.
Whether he will redshirt, because of the depth at WR, remains to be seen. Ideally, with Hopper coming off one and with Priester being the slot type right now, he would take the RS. He is currently more developed a receiver than Mike Williams, who is an outside receiver, where we need another to step up. However most would agree that Mike Williams has a much higher ceiling. This take replaces Ryan Jenkins more than Bud Robinson or Marquez North.
I would not be surprised if this is the last public commitment before NSD, when I expect several silents to come out in our favor.
