RB Tyshon Dye Commits to Clemson

RB Tyshon Dye (6'0 205, 4.44) of Elbert County HS, Elberton GA committed to Clemson tonight at the 5-Star Summit. He had previously been here in June with his mother. Dye picked us primarily over Auburn, but had offers from UGA, Nebraska, UNC, Tennessee, SC and USC. We believe that Auburn pushed him away due to the recent commitment of 4-star RB Jordan Wilkins, and their RB slots are full this cycle. He's rated at 4-stars, and I think that is a pretty accurate measure. He's rated the #17 RB overall and #16 player in Georgia, #204 overall nationally. He is the 7th player from Georgia in the class.

I think Dye is able to do a little of everything. On tape he's the 1-cut-and-go type, not a shifty runner. I think claims of 4.4 speed are pushing it a little. He wont be there when he puts another 10-15lbs on in college for sure. I see some James Davis in him, in that respect. He can catch the ball pretty well out of the backfield, and he's still a power runner. He's more of a Jamie Harper who isn't scared shitless of contact, but I think its a stretch to say he's as good a receiver as Harper was. To compare him to Gallman, I'd say Dye is a little more well-rounded as a RB. Green is much harder to bring down.

As a Jr. Dye rushed 212 times for 1516 yards and 21 TDs, and as a sophomore put up 889 yards and 11 scores on just 90 carries. He has clocked a 10.9 100m and a 21.9 second 200m this spring. His brother Marquice is a CB for the 2014 cycle, but does not yet have a Clemson offer.

Based on what we've heard, Clemson is done at RB in this class. We were only going to take 2 and with Dye and Gallman on board, we're finished. We have 2 commits for 2014 already as well. Personally, I think Alvin Kamara and D. Green are oversign worthy, but I'm not sure what the staff is going to do. Green has said he wants to wait until the end, and he's visiting most of his major schools this week. I would take Green as an oversign if he wanted to commit to Clemson. I believe Kamara is going to UGA.

He was recruited chiefly by The Chad.
