WR DeMarcus Robinson Commits to Clemson

WR DeMarcus Robinson (6’2 200, 4.55) from Peach County HS, Fort Valley GA committed to Clemson today at the 5 Star Summit. He did attend camp at Clemson last month. He chose us over offers from Auburn, Tennessee, SC, UNC, UGA, Oregon, Florida, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma among others. He is rated the #13 WR in the nation, and #117 overall player, with a high 4-star ranking from most services. I feel that his rating is accurate.

Robinson is a potential possession receiver at the Split End-9 position in the Clemson offense, which is where Hopkins plays. Its possible he could play the 5, or Flanker position on the Fieldside, but I think he’s a great fit at 9. He has a great frame and doesn't need much more weightroom work to be able to play. Robinson isn't elite in terms of speed, but isn't slow either. His route-running is very good and he looks like he's not running all that hard sometimes, but tends to run upright too much. His ball skills really separate his play on the field from other WRs in the class this year; his hands are very good. What stands out the most on film is a quality that Hopkins has, which is that he doesn’t go down immediately and fights for yards after contact. This is not a track guy (he does compete in HS track) or athlete who was just stuck at WR because of speed, he looks like a real football player. He likes to set those cracks on the perimeter

Robinson was recruited by Jeff Scott with The Chad, and is a possible early enrollee. He becomes the 6th player from Georgia this cycle. As a junior he compiled 52 receptions for 1,024 yards and 10 TDs, to go with 144 yards rushing and 5 TDs. His uncle is former gamecock WR Marcus Robinson.

We could see Clemson taking one more WR in this cycle. Marquez North and Mike Williams are the two candidates. Film is after the jump...
