Cornerback David Kamara Commits to Clemson

CB David Kamara (5'11 185), from Loganville-Grayson GA, ended his recruitment tonight by committing to Clemson. He is the teammate of RB Wayne Gallman and 5-Star DE Robert Nkemdiche, his close friend, who attended camp with him this week. He should be on campus until Friday. He has offers from Miss. State, Ole Miss, Illinois and Wake Forest.

Kamara is a true corner, not a tweener safety/corner. I'd peg him as a definite CB at Clemson, possibly a nickelback in some situations, though Venables likes a bigger CB at nickel for run support purposes. He's got the speed to play and seems to be comfortable with the ball in the air in the film I've seen. It looks like he could work on his backpedal technique, but its fair. Change of direction is good. He doesn't mind hitting people and seems to be comfortable in space. Those are all major things to look at for a CB. In short, I think this is a solid take.

Its been known for some time that Kamara was impressed with Clemson, but also covets an LSU offer. Nkemdiche was possibly taking him around to get him extra offers. I figured Kamara would commit to Clemson only if LSU didn't come through with an offer at their camp this month. Given the talent they rake in, I'd put Kamara at a borderline offer for them. Nkemdiche's brother Denzel is a freshman Safety at Ole Miss, and they have discussed playing together. However, we haven't been in the lead for Robert of late. It has been LSU. This certainly helps the situation though, and we badly need an elite DE recruit, as I've mentioned for the last 2 cycles. Nkemdiche has also visited Clemson as much as anyone else. Grayson's coach played and roomed with Dabo at Alabama.

Kamara was recruited by Tony Elliott. He is Clemson's 7th recruit and first DB. Film after the jump...
