Gamethread: Clemson vs. Florida A&M

Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports

This is the first of what should be four non-conference tuneup games leading into the ACC season. Ken Pomeroy (www.kenpom.com) ranks Florida A&M as the 334th best team out of 347. They are very poor on both sides of the ball too, ranking 333 on offense and 306 on defense. For reference sake, Clemson is ranked 64th, with the 95th ranked offense and 43th ranked defense.

This is a very good opportunity to work on some things offensively. The offense has been simplified early in the season. We don't run a lot of set plays and have gone away from Brownell's patent 4-out 1-in motion offense in favor of running the offense through Hall and Filer with high ball screens. My guess is that the reason is a combination of the number of young players and the lack of shooters. With so many young guys playing, it takes time to gel. Games against teams like Florida A&M give these guys the opportunity to feel each other out without having to worry too much about the outcome.

The game is on ESPN3 at 7PM. If you are tuning in, go ahead and leave your thoughts here.
