OT Javarius Leamon Commits to Clemson

via <a href=""></a>

Javarius Leamon (6'6' 295) from Woodruff HS in Spartanburg SC has committed to Clemson. Leamon was a long SC lean and also had offers from Auburn and Tennessee. He's the first real get at OT in this class and fills a huge need in terms of talent and numbers at Tackle.

Leamon is rated a 5.7 3-star player, but it is not accurate as a gauge of his talent. We've seen him and he's a low 4. He's rated lower because of his grades, like Jabril Solomon (who committed to ECU because Clemson can't get him in). Grades do make up a component of these ratings along with their measurables and on-field performance. If his grades were better, I feel like he'd have 10x the offers. Leamon is the best OT I really believe we could get in this class. He's big and he plays mean, so I like him already. He's big, lankier than you would expect, and can move well. He plays much meaner in run blocking than current target Oliver Jones, who we also expect to commit. He visited Clemson with his parents the Monday after he attended camp, so I expected his commitment then.

Clemson will be bringing back Isaiah Battle at OT, likely in January, and Leamon plus at least one more OT in this class. I would prefer it if we brought in 4 at the Tackle slot (Destefano & Guillermo are Guard-types) total. Leamon is the 13th commit in the class, plus Dodd and Battle to make 15 in January. Clemson has 16 open slots to give, and we expect them to take 18-20 total signees.

Now the challenge becomes to get Leamon in school. He was recruited by Jeff Scott.
