Clemson got a good commitment from Daniel HS End Shaq Lawson (6'3 240, 4.6 40) this afternoon after his Jr Day visit. He currently has offers from Tennessee, Maryland and ECU. He racked up 100 tackles last year for Daniel and 13 sacks alongside current signee DeShaun Williams. I'd say, and he hasn't been rated yet by Rivals, that he's a high 5.7 (3-star) or a borderline 5.8 (4-star) guy, for those of you who care about the star rating.
He's an all-region basketball player (#71 PF by ESPN) as well and hasn't focused solely on football very long. When he does I can see some upside for this guy. His motor looks very good on highlight clips, which is always the first thing to look at with a defensive lineman, and his long arms and overall strength are very good. Speed is very good, pad level is good too. I can see he's been well-coached. If his listed height is accurate, I don't see anything to dislike about this guy.
He should start out at Bandit end at Clemson, where we've recently shuffled the lineup. Crawford has been moved over to backup Branch weakside and Kourtnei Brown to strongside behind Goodman. Tavaris Barnes will move back and forth from End to the 3-tech, pretty much as we expected.
