Rumph Player Recruiting Information

There are obviously concerns about recruiting with Chris Rumph's departure to Alabama. While he is making the biggest waves with a player who was definitely NOT considering Clemson (Clowney), he was assigned some quality players. Table I shows Rumph's Clemson commitments and Table II shows Rumph's recruits who are not commtted to CU.   We also have Corey Crawford committed at the defensive end position, so we will also pay attention to him as well.

Cortez Davis and Marlin Lane both attend Mainland High in Daytona Beach. Both are planning to visit Miami this weekend. Davis is a former FSU commitment who will visit Michigan State and Alabama before signing day. Lane visited Auburn in mid-December and seemed to enjoy his visit. He told some Auburn folks that AU was in the mix then told the Clemson crew that he was still 100% Clemson. This one is still a question but Clemson does have the upper hand at this point. Grady Jarrett openly stated that Rumph's departure was a slight jolt but that he is still firmly committed to Clemson. Charlie Harbison was scheduled to visit him this evening (1/6/11).

Jerell Adams has a Clemson visit scheduled for Jan 14 and a visit to South Carolina scheduled for Jan 21. Adams looks like a Carolina lean at this point. DeBell is committed to Georgia, Ely is committed to Alabama, and Garrett is committed to Auburn. Hannah was not officially offered by Clemson and has taken visits to Rutgers and Cincinnati to date. Marcus is committed to South Carolina. Riley will not end up at Clemson and will probably end up at a smaller D1 school. Sherod is committed to Oklahoma state. Smith is committed to FSU but did take a Clemson visit in late November. Staley has a lot of offers from all over the place but appears to have narrowed it down to Florida and South Carolina. Vaughters is committed to Stanford.

Corey Crawford was surprised by Rumph's departure but is scheduled to attend Clemson orientation this weekend. Crawford will be transferring in from Hargrave. Should Crawford move away from his Clemson commit, Alabama and Georgia will be high on his list of alternatives.
