Lamar OLB B.J. Goodson commits to Clemson

Clemson added another much-needed LB commitment to the 2011 class with the commitment of in-state LB B.J. Goodson from Lamar HS in the PeeDee. Goodson is a 6'1 220ish LB that I expected to commit earlier this summer, and he accepted our offer over LSU, Tennessee, and other smaller schools.

Scout Film

Last season he ended up with 96 tackles and 2 sacks, and has a 4.7 40. Hes already strong enough to contribute and his film shows he is a tenacious LB with range and fair speed, and he is the type that likes to lay the big hit on people. Tackling on film was really good. I did not see much in the way of pass coverage on his film, so that part I can't give any opinion on.

Goodson appears to be the type of hitter that we've lacked at Linebacker for 5 years; he is better than Colton Walls in my opinion and should end up a low 3-star player from the services, for those that care about that. If he had 0.2 better 40 times he might be a high 3/low-4 star.

Will he contribute next year? Well he has the size and we don't have depth, so its possible. Need to see more of him.
