Here on football's banquet weekend, Clemson generally brings in its top prospects, uncommitted and committed for official visits. RB recruit DJ Howard will not be here, due to bad weather, which Korncoot didnt mention. David Beasley changed his to next weekend. Here are this weekend's official visitors:
- Bashaud Breeland - 6'1 190, 3-star Athlete - Allendale-Fairfax - Committed to Clemson - #15 player in SC, #48 nationally. He will be slated to play Safety at CU. Offered by Penn State, Michigan, VT, Tenn, SC. One of the state's fastest players.
- Garry Peters - 6'0 173, 4.5 40, 4-star Cornerback - Heritage HS, Georgia - Committed to Clemson - #14 in GA, #21 nationally. Slated to play Corner. Offered by Bama, FSU, UNC, Auburn. Clemson has not signed a 4-star DB from Georgia since Jeff Francoeur.
- Justin Parker - 6'3 230, 4.65 40, 4-star OLB - Beaufort HS - #13 in SC, #18 at his position nationally. Being recruited by Dan Brooks. SC lean, but LSU and GT are in the mix. Will almost certainly decide between CU and SC. Top prospect on the board by far.
- Tra Thomas - 6'1, 271, 3 star DT - Anson County HS, NC - Committed to Clemson - #28 player in NC. Offered by Michigan State, West Virginia, Duke, ECU. Shrine Bowler. Has two teammates as juniors who will be two of the best players in NC, one is already committed (Brandon Ellerbe) and another is a top target next year.
- Darius Lipford - 6'3, 201, 4.6 40, 3-star OLB - Hibriten HS, NC - Committed to UNC - Dan Brooks played with his father, and he says he just wants to check out the campus. Obviously would need to put on 25lbs to play in college. Along with Bohanna and Parker, he is one of 3 LB prospects we're still after for 2010. Seems like he's firm to UNC to me.
- DeAndre Hopkins - 6'2, 194, 4.55 40, 4-star WR, Rivals250 player (155) - Daniel HS - Committed to Clemson - #13 athlete nationally, #7 in SC - been committed since early spring and has not wavered. Offered by Michigan, SC, Tennessee.
- Martin Jenkins - 5'9" 170, 4.4 40, 10.6/100m, 3-star Cornerback - Roswell GA - Committed to Clemson - also offered by Syracuse.
- Tavaris Barnes - 6'5" 250, 4-star DT - Jacksonville FL - Committed to FSU - Clemson has made a late push on this lineman. Recruited by Jeff Scott and Rumph. Visits UNC next week, and FSU following. He says all the schools are still in it: "All four schools are equal"
- Demont Buice - 6'2, 205, 4.5 40, 3-star RB - Gaston HS, AL - Committed to Clemson - #17 in Alabama, #40 nationally at RB - Has the makeup to play OLB if needed, but would have to put on weight. Broke his ankle this season in the 4th week. Had 2300 yards as a sophomore, 1600 yards and 26 TDs missing 4 games last year. Offered by Tennessee, Kentucky, and Ole Miss.
- Reid Webster - 6'5" 270, 3-star OT - Etowah HS, GA - Committed to Clemson - #41 in GA, #48 Tackle nationally - Late offers this spring by Miami, FSU, Ole Miss, NC State.
- Darius Robinson - 6'0 170, 4.41 40, 4-star CB - Westlake HS, GA - Committed to Clemson - #16 in GA, #14 national CB. There was some controversy about him wanting Georgia Tech, but he cleared it up by saying he was misrepresented in the papers. Is working hard on getting Justin Parker here. Offered by Miami, Auburn, Ole Miss, Michigan, UCLA, Stanford, Michigan State.
- Corey Crawford - 6'5" 235, 4.76 40, 3-star DE - Carver HS, GA - Committed to Clemson - #65 in GA, #25 DE nationally.- Also being pushed late by Georgia, but says when Coach Fabris was let go, they lost their chance. Says he could take an official to FSU, but not scheduled. Offered by Auburn, Ole Miss, UGA, Florida, Florida State.
- Desmond Brown - 6'0 192, 4.5 40, 4-star Safety - Cherokee County HS, AL - Committed to Clemson - #10 player in Alabama, #25 nationally - Was going to UT until Clemson offered. Offered by Auburn, Tennessee, Arkansas, Miss. State.
So unless Barnes or Parker commits this weekend in a surprise, I dont see much coming from this weekend in Clemson. Usually Clemson stacks all their commits and top uncommits on banquet weekend, but couldn't this year. The staff is essentially focused on 2011 recruiting now. We have 20 commits total, DT Josh Watson has enrolled as should OG Kalon Davis today.
